How I help clients?

Clients have come to me wanting help for over twenty five years. My clients get benefits from the two main therapies that I provide: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and EMDR. Both are recommended under the National Institute for Clinical Excellence for relevant difficulties.

My Location

Personal meetings are in Wansford PE8 6JW. Wansford is on the A1 at the Peterborough Leicester crossover. 11 miles from Peterborough mainline station.

Online and Personal sessions. Clients are welcome to mix personal meetings with online and telephone sessions for their convenience.

Fees

There is no fee for a first meeting if my location is right for you. It is a chance for you to ask questions you have.

  • C.B.T. Specialism, c. 25 years. Responding to a range of emotional difficulties: depression, anxiety, P.T.S.D / trauma, rehabilitation, performance issues, harassment, stress symptoms & substance abuse for individuals and families.
  • Consultant EMDR Supervisor and Consultant, within the EMDR Europe Association. Providing supervision and consultation to EMDR therapists. 2015. Covering Complex Trauma presentations, with Ego State and Attachment focus.

  • Present employment.  Freelance and contracted CBT & EMDR Therapist and Supervisor / Consultant. Receiving instructions from a wide range of insurance and rehabilitation agencies. London Central / Waterloo ( Mondays ) & Peterborough PE8 and PE1.
  • Retained Trauma Specialist Police Agencies:  in the Cambs and Lincolnshire area for c. 15 years. During the last c. 7 years specialising as trauma and PTSD therapist, taking referrals from OH staff, at Cambs Constabulary, then the 3 constabularies working collaboratively ( Cambs, Herts, Befordshire ), to January 2018. That contract will is now ended following a National Tendering process requiring service over a wide area.  

Experience: History of Employment

  • 09/1998 to 01/2011 Case Manager & Primary Site Counsellor AXA / Icas.  Various roles:
  • 2001 to 2008 : Affiliate EAP Counsellor for major city accountancy firms : EC1-4. Dedicated Therapist for Goldman Sachs. Feedback from GS indicates work well received .
  • 04/98 to 04/2002. Case Manager, for ICAS Ltd ( now AXA-ICAS ), an EAPA member (Employee Assistance Programme Association).  3-4 days a week until September 2005. This company provided counselling and psychological services to companies in UK and Europe. I gained experience :
  • Liaising with Occupational Health Doctors, H.R. Managers  and staff of PLC companies. This covered: risk management, awareness of diagnostic criteria, writing employee care plans & other reports as required.
  • Providing supervision of EAP work, for a network of c. 600 affiliates (Counsellors and Psychologists) of varying backgrounds.
  • During these 5 years I had additional training and experience with alcohol issues, harassment , referral report writing, trauma & critical incident group debriefing.
  • I was also a  Dedicated Case Manager with responsibility for major companies, where risk and safety issues at work are a particular focus. I have responded to a number of clinical audits. My case management work was described as “ particularly skilful and conscientious “ by the external audit team (headed by Caroline Highly-Marchington, from UMIST, working for an American utility company) .
  • Group trainer with C.S.C.T. Southwark Rd, London. c. 1996 … 2002.
  • 1995-98 counsellor various posts…all below now ended.
  • Staff Counsellor & Trainer at Her Majesties Prison.Providing a mandatory service for Counselling staff within the Home Office accredited S.O.T.P. (Sexual Offender Treatment Programme). Group & individuals. My reviews well recieved by the Home Office Accreditation Board.          
  • Counsellor with MIND (c2 yrs at Fitzwilliam St, Peterborough)
  • Counsellor with Community Alcohol Team multi disciplinary setting.
  • Counsellor with Timestop / YMCA. Counselling team young people for five years.
  • School counsellorvoluntary, working in a multi ethnic situation.

Vocational Training, Qualifications & Personal Therapy

  • EMDR Training. Levels 1 through to IV, London and Edinburgh, and Consultants’ Training June 2014, June 2014, London, with Sandi Rickman.
  • Diploma in Counselling:  (Huntingdon Regional College).1997
  • Diploma in Stress Management , 1994/5 The Centre for Stress Management , BlackheathLed byStephen Palmer, Clinical Psychologist. C.B.T. model with Stephen Palmer and Michael Neenan. The course was termed a Stress Management Diploma, it provided a C.B.T. training programme, with case formulation, client diary keeping, in vivo experiments, and behavioural interventions.
  • 3 yr: 93-95 Certificate in Counselling. Cambs Consultancy in Counselling (C.C.C.). This was accepted as prior training for the following above courses.
  • Personal Therapy: 4 yrs psychotherapy with 2 psychotherapists. (BPS & UKCP) .
  • Mindfulness: personal training with a qualified mindfulness practitioner from Bangor University.Degree. Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge. Social & Political Science. M.A. (Hons).
